COLLEGE DAY ON FEB 7th

On the 7th of February 2012 we will have our annual College Day celebrations. It will be presided by Mr.Ram Bhat, honorary president of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha. Prof. T.C. Shivashankara Murthy, V.C of Mangalore University will be the chief guest. Dr.V.V. Bhat, IAS officer also our proud alumnus and Dr.P.C.Tripathi, scientist will grace the occation. You are all cordially invited.

VIVEKANANDA JAYANTHI 2012

On the 12th of January 2012 Vivekanada Jayanthi was celebrated with grace and grandeur by VVS in the degree college premises. The Karnataka State ABVP president Dr.Vasanth Kumar delivered the key note address for the function. Shri Dayananda Pai, leading industrialist from Bangalore was the chief guest. On this occasion Mr.Gopala Krishna Pai, an alumnus of our college who has been recently awarded the Kendra Sahitya Academi award for his book ‘Swapna Saraswatha’ was felicitated.

International Conference – Presentations by Students

Mr. Deepak Naik II B.Sc (BZC) , Vishwas II B.Sc (BZC) and Kiran M.P II B.Sc (BZC) have completed minor research work on “Study of Fascinating life cycle of butterflies in the forests of Puttur taluk D.K under the guidance of Prof. Deviprasad K.N. during 2010-11 and they presented their work in the international conference held at Thiruvananthapuram organized by Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Kerala on 9th December 2011.

SPICE Project

Vijaya M.H of I B.Sc (BZC) and Shivaranjini & Anjali N.S of II BSC (BZC) working under the guidance of Sri. Srikrishna Ganaraja Bhat , HOD of Botany have been awarded SPICE project worth Rs. 30,000 each by Vision group on Science & Technology , GOvt. of Karnataka.

Participation in INSPIRE programme

Kum. Shreya Kolathaya chaithra U.N , Thejaswini and Srivalli of II B.Sc have Participated in “VIJYOSHI” camp III organized by KVPY-“Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” under INSPIRE programme held from 26th November, 2011 to 28 November 2011 at Indian Institute of Science , Bangalore.

WORKSHOP-By V.V.S.
A Day long Workshop is being organized on 17th December 2011 in Vivekananda College Silver Jubilee Hall ’Keshava Sankalpa’ involving all the Office bearers of the Management, Members of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of all the institutions run by Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha. The objective is to consolidate all the stakeholders of these educational institutions review the vision and mission and plan for the future.

Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebrations
Preparations are being made in the form of Meetings, discussions and planning to organize Vivekananda Jayanthi Celebrations in the College Campus to be held on 12th of January.

Staff and students of all Vivekananda Institutions will converge on the playground on that day where eminent speakers will be addressing the gather.

Vivekananda Jayanthi Intercollegiate Competitions
Invitations have already been sent to all colleges with regard to this year’s Intercollegiate Competitions held in connection with Vivekananda Jayanthi. This is recognized as an event with a long history of more than four decades.

The entries are being received and the competition date is tentatively fixed for 6th Jan. 2012.
